I notice that more of my clients are trying to get involved with LinkedIn but don’t really know the right approach for their business so maybe this blog can help you out.

1.	Set a goal – Why are you on LinkedIn? Is your focus winning new clients, finding old friends, getting a new job or telling your business network about career opportunities?
2.	Integrate – The new LinkedIn Tools allow you to integrate twitter and your blog posts within your profile so as long as the content is relevant to your business profile it will beneficial to “connect” it
3.	Clean up – Many things happen within a LinkedIn profile so it’s recommended to hide certain views of the profile to make it look smarter. Most of the right hand windows can be closed and hidden for viewers of your profile.
4.	Arrange – Have you noticed that you can drag certain sections up and down? Make sure that you move what matters the most as high as possible. Your recent achievements? Your passion for a certain role?
5.	Filter it – A +10 year career can contain a lot of different fields and experiences. Instead of listing them all and creating a 20 page profile try summarising it. Make the focus on your most relevant position and business interest.
6.	Stay Professional – The attraction of LinkedIn by businesses and many recruiters is that there is a certain etiquette that is lacking in Social Networking sites like Facebook for example no poking on LinkedIn.
7.	LinkedIn is no Facebook – So don’t worry if you don’t accept every friend request, your friends are on Facebook. Your business contacts are on LinkedIn.

So that’s the top 7 for now, if you have any comments or suggestions to this blog post I’m looking forward to see them so please share them !
